Influence of Wujv System's Abolishment on Chinese Martial Arts Development

武举制对传统体育的发展产生了积极影响,但由于武举制度自身的局限性,在一定程度上又制约了我国传统武术的发展,延缓了武术发展的步伐。清朝作为近代历史的开端,武举制度在清朝的延续和废止,为我国武术运动在民间全面展开起到了积极的推动作用,研究清朝武举制度结束的背景,是武术运动发展的一个重要节点。

Wujv system,or Wuke,had survived in Chinese history for more than 1200 years,deriving from the second year of Wu Zetian＇s reign,Tang Dynasty,and being abolished in the 27th year of Guangxu,late Qing Dynasty.As one of the forms of selecting talents who were proficient in martial arts at that time,Wujv system had profound influence on the development of Feudal Society.Wujv system was inherited from the former dynasty,but it developed further by producing Bond Four Test examination system——Wu Tong Examination,Wuxiang Examination,Wuhui Examination and Wudian Examination,and perfecting the standards of talents selection—— ＂select men who are versed in both literature and military affairs＂.However,facing with successive invasions of western colonists with advanced weapons,the traditional Wujv system couldn＇t satisfy the needs in modern wars.Furthermore,its existence or abolishment aroused violent controversy in the dynasty.So,eventually,it was abolished thoroughly before the extinction of Qing Dynasty.Wujv system also had positive effects on the development of ancient sports.But,at the same time,because of the limitation of Wujv system itself,and to some extent,it also restricted and postponed the development of martial arts in our country.In new period,it is necessary for us to master Wujv system comprehensively,which can provide reference for martial arts＇ later development and research.
