Since the late 1980s,with the advent of the new kind of programmable devices named FPGA (Field-Programmable Gate Array) ,a new class of computing systems named FPGA computing systems is proposed. They possess the computing power of application-specific computing systems and the versatility of general-purpose computing systems. This paper is dedicated to FPGA computing systems. First,several representative FPGA computing systems are introduced to characterize the concept of FPGA computing. Second, some important problems in this field are discussed. At last,our current work is outlined.
