标点符号是语篇中不可或缺的组成部分。语篇中缺少标点符号,将会影响读者对文章的理解。而译者若忽视标点符号在语篇中的作用,会影响译文的质量。为更好地了解标点符号的重要性及其语篇衔接功能,以冒号、分号为例对比分析了两种标点在英汉语言中的语篇衔接功能,并探讨了零转换、转换成其他标点及转换成语言文字这三种翻译转换策略在冒号、分号英汉互译中的运用。

Punctuation mark is an indispensable part in a text.It is difficult for readers to comprehend a text without punctuations.And it will influence translation if a translator ignores its importance in a text.To better understand the textual cohesive function of punctuation marks and their importance,this article,taking colon and semicolon for example,focuses on analyzing and comparing the textual cohesive function of English punctuation marks with that of Chinese punctuation marks.It will discuss three techniques to deal with translation between English and Chinese punctuations,namely no translation,translating into other punctuations or words.
