爱尔兰诗人叶芝和他同时代的现代主义很多诗人们借助传统中的贵族主义精神克服时代精神的危机,叶芝诗歌中的贵族气也最为明显。贵族气很大方面是来自叶芝所属民族爱尔兰古老的贵族文化传统,这是目前学界所不大注意的。纵观叶芝的诗歌创作,如果将之划分为前、中、后三个时期来看,他的贵族风格的诗和精神都有阶段性相应的变化。而且是一个逐渐由朦胧到明晰,再由对贵族生活的现实追求升华为精神的最高向往的过程。
