2000—2010年的中国古代人口思想研究包括宏观人口思想探讨和分人物人口思想研究两部分。研究的特点为重视古代人口思想对当代人口理论构建的意义;思路严谨,资料翔实;古代学者思想的合理性与局限性共存。不足之处为范围较小、数量较少、深度不够。因而该项研究还应该不断拓宽学术视野,在深入挖掘中国古代人口思想的基础上得出更加科学合理的结论。

The first decade of the 21st century witnessed the researchers＇ exploration of the population thought of ancient Chinese from the macro-level perspective with regard to the historical development of Chinese population thinking as well as the individual-level perspective with regard to the population thought of the great intellectual figures of the past.The specialists,in their pursuit of constructing the modern population theory,have laid their emphasis on tapping the implications of population thought of ancient China.Such endeavors deserve credit for their meticulous method,reliable data and a dialectic view of its merits and weaknesses.However,the narrow scope,scanty research findings,and absence of profundity that afflict studies at this stage in this field are still open to question.The study also should expand the macro;contact,theoretical foundation and other academic perspective,in-depth excavation of ancient Chinese population based on the ideas come more scientific and reasonable conclusions.
