In his Experience and Its Modes,influenced by Hegel and Bradley,Michael Oakeshott expounds his special view of historical experience.Although Oakeshott is a typical modern philosopher of history,he shares some common views on history with postmodernists.So,Oakeshott may help attain a comparatively rational view of history,which is different from extreme postmodernism and naive realism as well.Moreover,Oakeshott＇s historical experience theory can help us understand current debates on historical experience in western historical study.
