本文论及涉外警务英语口语操用和身份认同的关系,认为中国警察在跨文化交际中应遵循"谈话制约理论",围绕"服务"和"管理"这两个不同的职责分别善用礼貌用语和司法用语,以提升执行公务与执法形象,从而获得交际双方以及社会的认同。

This paper discusses the relationship between the use of oral English for police and their identification.It is required that the Chinese police should follow the ＂discursive binding theory＂ in the situation of cross-cultural communication.Regarding the function of ＂service＂ and ＂control＂,the police need to be natural in using necessary polite expressions and legal statements so as to construct their right image as well as to enhance mutual recognition and identification in communicative ex-change.
