湄州救助基地拟建在台湾海峡西侧的湄洲岛。该岛潮流、波浪多变且地形、地质条件复杂。为确保救助船出勤与执行任务的安全、可靠,综合考虑了设计初拟的两处港址泥沙、波浪及骤淤和掩护条件等情况,进行了比较和论证分析,最后得出选址结论。

The Meizhou Salvage Base is going to be constructed at Meizhou Island which is to the west of the Taiwan Strait. The topography and geology of this island is complicated, and the tide and wave around it is frequent and variable. In order to ensure the safety and reliability of the salvage ships, the sediment, wave, sudden siltation and sheltering conditions of two sites for being selected have been considered comprehensively and compared. At last the conclusion has been got.
