In Amy Tan's novel The Bonesetter's Daughter,Lucy is an Americanized second generation Chinese immigrant.Marginalized by both Chinese culture and American culture, she felt lost between the two cultures and only after she had accepted Chinese culture did she manage to establish her dual cultural identity.Hence,Amy Tan implies that Chinese immigrants should seek balance between Chinese culture and American culture and act as the bridge connecting the two cultures with their unique culture identities.
