Frank Kermode has written four books on literary canon,of which Pleasure and Change is the summit of his views on western canon.He argues that two aesthetic concepts,i.e.pleasure and change,should become the criteria of the judgment of literary canon.The canon should embrace a peculiar grace at the end and is capable of endowing readers with pleasure.In different times,the canon should stand up to change by presenting kind of newness.Kermode＇s views on canon resonates that of Harold Bloom,which constitute a harmonious duet on western literary canon.
