Ever since the beginning of the 20th century,the Japanese Buddhist scholars have carried out thorough examination of the general picture,the translators and the doubtful authenticity of the Chinese version of the Buddhist scriptures,including the Eastern Han＇s Buddhist scriptures.Erich Zürcher,a famous Dutch sinologist,writes a broad outline of the linguistic characteristics of the Eastern Han＇s Buddhist trans-lation,gives a clear exposition of the translation terminology and style of the Chinese version of the Buddhist scriptures in the different stages of translation,and provides a list of the translated works of the Eastern Han＇s Buddhist scriptures based on textual research.
