Syndrome differentiation is the important component of health state differentiation（HSD）.Understanding the basic characteristics of syndrome is significant for fully comprehending connotation of HSD.In this article,the eight characteristics of syndrome are discussed,such as integrity,stability,dynamic state,fuzziness,mixed relationship,concealment,degree of urgency and human character.Then the relationship of these characteristics and the connotation of HSD is expounded.
