Strategic Significance of Enhancing Concentration Ration of China Pharmaceutical Industry

由于产品差别化程度低以及退出壁垒较高，制药业处于集中度较低的垄断竞争状态。为避免过度竞争与重复建设，充分利用规模经济，应通过创造公平竞争环境、鼓励战略多样性、支持强强联合以及提高药品质量标准等，加快制药业集中化进程。

The paper described the monopolistic competition with low concentration ratios in pharmaceutical industry due to the low product differentiation and high exit barriers.It suggested to accelerate the process of concentration of the pharmaceutical industry,by creating fair competition environment,encouraging strategies variety,supporting mergers of strong firms,and setting higher medicines quality standards,in order to avoid excessive competition and duplicate establishments,and to use fully economy of scale.
