CD4^+CD25^+ regulatory T cells (Tregs) is a group of T lymphocyte subsets possessing specific functions in immunological regulation and appear to be critical components of Tregs, which participate in the immune response to multiple infectious diseases. CD4^+CD25^+ Tregs play significant roles in the chronicity of vires infection, immunopathogenesis, prevention of autoimmune response and maintenance for the immunologic balance. The role of CD4^+CD25^+ Tregs in the disease progression of HIV infection is reviewed in this article.
