An efficient,green and convenient approach for the synthesis of xanthenedione derivatives from aldehydes and 5,5-dimethyl-1,3-cyclohexanedione in the absence of any catalyst by stirring in water is de-scribed.This method provides many advantages such as environmental friendliness,high yields and simple workup procedure.
