摘要
采用国际上最先进的高精度热电离质谱测年技术,测定了南京汤山葫芦洞钙板和石笋的年龄。并根据洞穴碳酸盐相与洞穴文化堆积层的地层关系,确定南京直立人化石时代在距今50 万年左右。
The speleothems collectd from Hulu Cave, Nanjing have been dated with the thermal ionization mass spectrometry technique (TIMS), a recently developed dating method for cave carbonates. The ages of the speleothems could be used to estimate the ages of the Nanjing Ape Man. The TIMS age of the flowstone onlapped the culture relic layer containing No.I cranium fossil is about 529 +32 -27 kaBP, which locates the upper limit age of the Nanjing Ape Man. The age of the stalagmite overlapped on this flowstone layer consequently suggest this upper limit. The dated age of the flowstone underlying the fossil layer indicates that the Nanjing Ape Man was no older than 723 ka BP.Therefore, the ages of the speleothems in this paper provide a firm evidence for the existing period of the Nanjing Ape Man which is much older than those suggested previously.
