Objective To observe the distribution characteristics of involved nerves in patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy(DPN). Methods The sensory and motor nerve conduction velocity were defected in 900 type 2 diabetes patients complicated DPN. Results In this group, the abnormal rate of sensory nerve was 89.3%, including 65.2% (587 cases) median nerves, 38.9% (350 cases) ulnar nerves, 89.3% (804 cases) superficial peroneal nerves, 60.4% (544 cases)sural nerves and 29.6% (64 cases)posterior tiabial nerves. The abnormal rate of motor nerve was 34.5% , including 32. 1% (289 cases) median nerves, 28.7% (258 cases) common peroneal nerves and 22.7% (49 cases) in tiabial nerves. The abnormal rate of sensory nerve was significantly higher than motor nerves( P 〈 0. 01 ) ; and which in lower limbs was significantly higher than upper limbs ( P 〈 0. 01 ). Conclusion In DPN patients, sensory nerves such as superficial peroneal nerve, median nerve and sural nerve, and motor nerves such as peroneal nerve and median nerve are the most common involved nerves.
