The lexical approach focuses on guiding students in understanding the relationship among the lexical context,discourse and pragmatics,assisting students in applying the lexis creatively.The key to the lexical approach is to cultivate students＇ studying of collocation,help students to grasp institutionalized expressions and semi-fixed lexical chunks in order to improve their competence of applying the lexical chunks.The lexical approach can improve students＇ discourse competence,lexical learning strategies and writing strategies,and promote students＇ English writing competence and comprehensive competence effectively.
