顾名思义,白领丽人就是指从事办公室工作的女职员。虽然这一群体只占近代上海女性劳动力的很少部分,但她们引起了上海社会公众的诸多议论和关注。中等阶级的男女出于不同的原因外出工作。她们想通过从事某一职业获得个人的满足感与自我实现。作为新女性、摩登女性和职业女性的都市新群体——上海的中等阶级妇女,其人数虽然甚少,但始终不愧为敢于走出家庭、服务社会、追求个人自主性的女中豪杰。上海的女职员代表了中等阶级的妇女,她们在家人、家庭和职业圈定的情境中力求自我实现。

Office Lady refers to those female employees working at offices.Although there were not so many of them among the whole female work forces in Shanghai,they have attracted a lot of social attention recently.As a new group of modern and professional women,these ladies intended to achieve self-fulfillment and satisfaction through working.They represented the middle class women in Shanghai,stepping into the society to try and to fulfill their lives.
