摘要
《第五个孩子》描述了一个家庭悲剧,一个本快乐安和的家庭因具有奇特、异质的第五个孩子班的到来而恐慌、分裂;作者以自然主义式的叙述描述了班在成长路上的种种不幸,勾勒了一副令人忧惧的景象,忠实反映了人类社会的现状:爱的缺失和人性的集体异化。
The Fifth Child tells a tragedy of a family,in which everyone feels panic because of the birth of Ben,the fifth child who is special.The author describes the various difficulties that Ben encounters and shows us a terrifying picture which reflects the situation of the current society： love being disappearing and humanity being alienated.
