Formed in January, 2010, U-Map is the first classification framework that specially orients to European higher education institutions currently. In content, the system contains six dimensions and twenty-three indicators. In implementation, it shows four models of market, government, stakeholder and independent organization. In conclusion, the realistic, multi-dimensional, and descriptive U-Map will gradually play an important role in enhancing the transparency of European higher education, promoting the diversity of European universities, and guiding the scientific development in quality assurance.
