西汉一代,中央政府与匈奴、西域之间使节来往频繁。在交通、食宿等条件不便的情况下,大批汉使纷纷踏上出使异域的艰难行程。然而他们出使的动机又不尽相同,大量汉使为报效国家、传播华夏文明而不畏艰险,其中也有贪图功名利禄之徒,以及出于对异域之好奇而前往探险者。
