The Kingly Way and the Way of Might from the Pre-Qin Confucian Perspective

在先秦儒家看来,王道的内涵是以仁爱之心推行仁政,在政治经济军事方面具体表现为为政以德,养民富民,仁战仁兵;霸道的内涵则是以功利之心推行力政,在政治经济军事方面具体表现为以力假仁、刑严势威,以开辟土地、聚敛财富,实现地大国富,崇武尚战。

From the pre-Qin Confucian perspective,the kingly way carries out the benevolent government with the benevolence and love;it governs with morals in politics,maintains and enriches the people in the economic,advocates the benevolent war and army.The way of might carries out the might government with the utilitarian pursuit,it uses the power under the guise of the benevolence and governs by highly stressing the law and the penalty in politics,pursuits large land and fortune by forming land amassing wealth in economic,worships violence and advocates the war in military fields.
