摘要
本文通过对全球最大的图书销售网之一、美国的Amazon图书网上的中国典籍英译本的调查,来研究中国典籍英译国外阅读市场现状。调查结果表明:网站推荐中国典籍英译本的相关度不大;网站上的中国典籍英译本涉及的文本内容大都以文学和哲学为主;网站上的中国典籍英译本译者多为英语本族语译者;网站上中国典籍英译本出版社多为英美国外出版社;读者参与评分人数最多的前10本译本国内出版的占其中5本。通过调查结果分析得出,要建立比较丰富的中国典籍英译国外阅读市场,还需要国内国际相关部门、出版社、译者、译评家和读者的共同努力。
The paper involves a ease study of Chinese classics English translation (CCET) at Amazon which is one of the big- gest book selling online websites in the world. The result shows that the degree of relevant recommendation of CCET at Amazon should be much improved; that the CCET at Amazon are focused mainly on literature and philosophy ; that the CCET at Ama- zon are done mainly by English native speakers; that the CCET at Amazon are published mainly by publishers in English- speaking countries ; that of ten most popular CCET books five are published in China. The study suggests that the healthy development of reader markert on CCET beyond China needs the co-operation of the relevant units at home and abroad: publishers, translators, translation critics, and readers.
