"Literati" and "scholars" are two basic identities in ancient China's academic stratum. First appearing in the Spring and Autumn Period and the Period of Warring States and matured in Han and Wei Dynasties, the '" scholars' taste" is the most important psychological support and value orientation in ancient China's literary forms such as poetry and lyrics, musical instruments, chess, calligraphy and painting, etc. It is a historical transformation from "aristocratic taste" to "literati's taste" and then to "scholars' taste". The transformation can be found out from the functional change of the ancient musical instrument, Qin
