The Resting-the-Head-on-Flowing-Water and Rinsing-the-Mouth-with-Stones is a subject in the water rock scenery in Chinese gardens. This article introduces the literary quotation of the Resting-the-Head-on-Flowing-Water and Rinsing-the-Mouth-with-Stones, which has the cultural connotation of ambition. It also analyses the circumstance conditions of creating such scenes and introduces constructing skills of creating the Resting-the-Head-on-Flowing-Water and Rinsing-the-Mouth-with-Stones meanings in the water rock scenery, such as borrowing sound or shape of water over or beside a river, borrowing sound scenes of water beside a cave, borrowing sound or shape of water and shape of stones beside stone shoals, borrowing quiet scenery of rockery stones without water or scenery of rock placing, and other methods. Those borrowed scenery methods are still important to create meanings of the Resting-the-Head-on-Flowing-Water and Rinsing-the-Mouth-with-Stones in modern gardens in the water rock scenery.
