摘要
历史历来都是文化的主战场,是民族问题的必争之地,也是"爱尔兰民族寓言"《尤利西斯》所关注的主要问题。在《尤利西斯》中,乔伊斯揭示了历史虚构的外壳及其社会和心理成因,暴露了殖民主义者和民族主义者对历史的歪曲及其背后共同的逻辑,探讨了历史的发展趋势和实质,即历史无法逃脱混乱的走向,但又包含真实的因素。乔伊斯的这些见解既与维柯的历史观有共同之处,又与后世的后殖民主义和新历史主义理论有诸多暗合之处,同时又不乏独特见解。
History has always been the main cultural battlefield for national issues,and thus becomes the major concern in James Joyce’s Ulysses,the ＂national epic of Ireland＂.Joyce reveals the fabricated shell of history and reasons for the fabrication,exposes both nationalists’ and colonialists’ twisting of history and the purposes behind these phenomena.Furthermore,the novelist exposes the trend and essence of history,that is,history can’t avoid running to chaos,but there is something real in history.Joyce’s ideas about history not only have something akin to Vico’s but also have much in common with post-colonialists’ and neo-historicists’ theories.And most importantly,these ideas have their own peculiarities and originalities.
