The Course Traversed by the Communist Party of China in Search for an Independent Road

中国共产党有着与生俱来的强烈的独立自主意识。大革命时期,由于共产国际一心扶持中国国民党,中国共产党被迫对国民党步步退让,独立自主意识被强行抑制。土地革命时期,在共产国际"左"倾思想理论的指导下,中国共产党犯下三次"左"倾错误。其间中国共产党对共产国际基本上是服从的,甚至有盲从,但也存在着理论和实际工作中的抗争。尤其是以毛泽东为代表的一批中国共产党人,以卓有成效的农村革命实践,在与共产国际相推动又相碰撞中独立自主地找到了适合自己的"农村包围城市"的革命道路。遵义会议是中国共产党走上独立自主道路的开端。它是在与共产国际失去联系的环境下召开的,而新的中央领导集体既自主决定自己的事务又以尊重的态度对待共产国际,显示中国共产党正在成长为一个成熟的政党。

The Communist Party of China （CPC） has a strong innate sense of independence. In the period of the Great Revolution （1924--1927） , the whole-hearted support to the Kuomintang （KMT） from the Communist International forced the CPC to give way to the KMT at every step and suppressed its sense of independence. During the Agrarian Revolutionary War （ 1927--1937 ） , under the guidance of the Communist International＇ s ＂ Left＂ thinking and theory the CPC committed the ＂Left＂ error for three times. In this period the CPC adopted a basical- ly obedient attitude towards, or even followed blindly, the Communist International, but there were also disputes with it, both in theory and in practical work. In particular, a group of Chinese Communists represented by Mao Zedong independently found, through their fruitful practice of rural revolution, the correct revolutionary road of ＂encircling the cities from rural areas＂ in the course of mutual promotion and collision with the Communist International. The Zunyi Meeting marked the starting point for the CPC to embark on the road of independence. The meeting was held when the CPC lost contact with the Communist International and the new central collective lead- ership independently decided their own affairs while showing respect to the Communist International, demonstrating that the CPC was growing into a mature political party.
