萧萐父先生与近代蜀学

Xiao Jiefu and Modern Chinese Shu School

所谓近代蜀学,是指廖平及受他影响的蜀中学人之文化共同体,在清末至民国之文化转型期,对中西文明所作的深刻反思之学,以蒙文通、刘咸炘、唐君毅等为代表。萧萐父先生通过其父萧仲仑先生深受近代蜀学的影响。近代蜀学具有中西文化相资互补之属性,其特色在于:传统学术的根底厚实,特别是深通经史之学,而又堂庑宽广、心态开放、兼容并包、不囿成法,在表达上颇具诗性特质,做到哲诗互济,在人格上追求完美,仁智双彰。百多年来,学界多以欧洲文明作为唯一判准评论中华文明,有很多不相应的方面,亟需重识重估。中华文明源头孕育之中华各民族历史上的诸多属性仍未被我们所认识。萧先生的近代蜀学研究,启发我们发掘中华文明及其进程的独特性,不可本末倒置,丢掉中华文明之根。

Modern Chinese Shu School is a kind of cultural community made up of ＂Liao Ping＂ and many Shu scholars influenced by him.During the cultural transformation,from the late Qing dynasty to the Republic Period,this school aroused people＇s profound reflections on Chinese and western cultures,with such representatives as Meng Wentong,Liu Xianxin,Tang Junyi and so on.Xiao Jiefu has been deeply influenced by Modern Chinese Shu School via his father,Xiao Zhonglun.An attribute of Modern Chinese Shu school is that Chinese and western cultures complemented to each other relatively and characterized by the profound traditional academic background,especially the scholars are proficient in classics and history,with broad and inclusive mind,in pursuit of perfect personality,and their way of expression looks quite poetic.Philosophy and poetry promote each other harmoniously in Modern Chinese Shu School.However,for more than a hundred years,educational circles have judged the Chinese civilization only by western cultures which is not appropriate and needs reevaluation.In the background of Chinese civilization source,many attributes of Chinese nation have not been understood clearly.Mr.Xiao＇s research on Shu School inspires us to explore the uniqueness of Chinese civilization in the process of development.
