After intensive development tests including type tests in accordance with IEC 840, Siemens eventually completed the prequalification test recommended by Cigre for their XLPE cable systems up to 400kV. After successful conquest of the 400kV level, further improvements have been achieved to match the even higher demands in cables and accessories operated at 500kV service voltage.
