与wh问句一样,修饰性关系分句中也存在wh移位,而且移位必须遵循空语类原则和领属条件等限制。但与wh问句不一样的是,修饰性关系分句并不发生中心语移位。经过wh移位后形成关系分句CP,CP然后嫁接到DP上,与主句一起生成一个完整的句子。

This thesis,in the framework of wh-movement and head movement,offers a unified syntactic interpretation to English restrictive relative clause in terms of linguistic facts especially its derivation process.With our analysis,we find that,there is wh-movement in English restrictive relative clause,and the movement must satisfy the requirements of empty category principle and subjacency condition.What is different from wh-question is that no head movement is involved.After movement,a restrictive relative clause CP is generated,which in turns adjoins to DP,and the clause is linked to the main clause,as a result,a complete sentence is derived.
