多媒体通信要求通信各方遵循一定的标准,以保证设备的互通和用户对厂商的自由选择。有关多媒体视频通信的业界标准多是由ITU-T制定,现已包括H.320、H.323和H.324等。Picture Tel公司在这些标准的制定工作中起到了相当大的作用,并开发出了一系列提高音频和视频传输质量的信号处理算法,用于其先进的视频会议系统中。
Multimedia communications calls for unified standards to ensure system interworking and allow customers to be free to choose whatever e-quipment they wanted from whichever manufacturer they preferred. Industrial standards are more often than not worked out or ratified by the ITU-T, such as H.320, H.323, and H.324. Picturetel played a significant role in the setting of those standards, and developed an array of signal processing algorithms to improve the audio and video transmission quality for its state-of-the-art videoconference systems.
