The near field technique is a new kind of measurement technique, which arose two decades ago. It has been widely used in the fields of radiation, targets scattering measurements and objects imaging. In this paper, the state of the art of the theory and measurement research on near field techniques for these three fields is surveyed, and the main issues in these branches for the further study are suggested.
