蒋希曾是二十世纪二、三十年代始终以中国革命事业和美国华人走向革命为文学创作题材的第一个华裔左翼作家。他与美国左翼文化运动有着密切的关系,他的作品尽管只有一本诗集《中国革命诗》,三部小说:《中国红》《金拜》《出番记》;以及一部三幕剧《死光》,但他的创作成就却得到当时美国进步文艺界,诸如著名作家辛克莱、德莱塞等人的高度评价,他的革命活动也得到美国人民和一些重要人士的广泛同情和支持。这位曾沟通了中美两国劳苦大众的心声,促进了两国进步文化交流的第一位美华左翼作家,将永远名垂中美文化交流的史册。

JIANG Xi-ceng, born in 1899 and passed away in 1976, is the first American Chinese left-wing writer who insisted on the revolutionary cause of China in the 1920s and 1930s. He was closely related to the left-wing cultural movement in the 1930s in America. Though his works only include a collection of poems, Revolutionary Poems of China, three novels-China Red, Gold Worship and Traveling Abroad, and a drama Dead Light, his achievements were highly praised by famous writers like Sinclair and Dreiser, and his revolutionary activities were sympathized and supported by American people and important persons. His name will be always remembered by both Chinese and Americans due to his contributions.
