应该更加客观、全面地评价曾国藩。《讨粤匪檄》,在内容上与事实严重背离,在思想远远落后于时代,根本不值得称赞。此外,尽管曾国藩战胜了太平天国,但是,他对清王朝的前途没有信心,产生了严重的"望死"情结,但是,曾国藩已经意识到了要向西方学习,并且身体力行,客观上成为太平天国革命的"遗嘱"执行人。

We should evaluate ZengGuofan comprehensively. As to TAO YUEFEI XI, its basic content was not consisitent with the facts, and the opirdon of this document was behind the level of the period. Though Zeng Guofan got vicoty over HongXiuquan, he had the desireness for death because of his despair of Qing Dynasty. Zeng realized that Chinese should study modem science, and he became the executor of TaiPing TianGuo Revolution＇s dying words.
