The development background of coal water slurry（CWS） and its basic performance are briefly reviewed. The mechanism of the CWS dispersants and stabilizers is analyzed in detail. Some commonly used additives and their performance are introduced as well. The research status and achievements of CWS at home and abroad are summarized. The application of new technologies and the development of new additives such as amphoterie ionic additives are focused. The development trends of the new additives are put forwards finally.
