Objective To record the number of walking steps with pedometer in order to evaluate daily physical activity of university students then discuss the value of pedometer applied in physical activity measurement. Methods One hundred and ninety-seven college students were recruited, and their walking steps number were recorded by pedometers. Data were filled in the Bouchard physical activity diary for a week. Results Col- lege students walked 9 086±5 123 steps per day in average. There was a moderate correlation between daily steps with energy consumption. Conclusion The college students' daily physical activity is low and continuous walking can enhance daily physical activity.
