Reading Promotion Activities in Modern China and Enlightenment Thereof

我国近代为"开化风气,开发民智",媒体以传播图书、出版新闻,提升社会读书风气为己任;图书馆以启民智、改良社会、改良民众为职责;社会各界以参与图书馆建设为乐事;图书馆和社会各界一起开展了一系列的阅读推广活动,使阅读为普通民众接受和认可。我国近代的阅读推广活动对当代图书馆适应时代阅读变化、提高国民阅读率有一定的借鉴意义。

In order to ＂civilize the social atmosphere and develop the people＇s intelligently＂ in modem time, media of our country carded on their own tasks to propagate the books, to publish the news, and to promote the society to study. Libraries regarded opening the peo- ple＇s intelligently, improving the society, and improving people as their duty. The various circles of society regarded participating in library＇s building as the pleasure. Together with the various circles of society, libraries developed the activity of reading and popularizing so as to let common people accept and approve reading. Our country＇s reading popularization activity in modem time surely has reference meanings for contemporary library to adjust to the reading changes of times, and improving people＇s reading rate.
