Modern university system has posed much higher requirements concerning university presidents＇ charisma, ideas of education and administration wisdom. The way of the university governance by the former president of Shanghai Normal University demonstrates： to perform their duties well, university presidents need first to lead and unite the university staff and students with their personal charisma; then to implement their own ideas of education through setting up personal examples with their own words and deeds; and lastly to focus on the key issues, to accurately position the university, and keenly seek the developmental opportunities for Universities in the new era.
