Through the analysis of macro morphology, the test of mechanical properties, the examination of metallographic microstructure, micro-morphology, and phases, the analysis focuses on the failure causes of corrosion boring and cracking of S135 drill pipe according to the applied state of drill pipes. The analysis results show that there are a number of deep corroded pits filled in the upsetting transitional band and in the inner wall of drill pipes. Those corroded pits are mainly formed by the oxygen corrosion, so the boring failure of drill pipes is due to the failure of oxygen corrosion.
