The suitability of some models for describing the clonal growth of a white clover (Trifolium repens) population is discussed in this paper. It is concluded that deterministic models are inadequate for the above purpose, while diffusion models and random walk models show great consistence with the clonal growth characteristics of the population. Furthermore, random walk models perform better than diffusion models for describing a population in an environment with rich natural resources, while the latter are better in a poor environment.
