On the Semantic Properties of Amplifiers in Legal English and Its Collocation——A research based on Chinese-English Parallel Legal Corpus

基于法律汉英平行语料库的研究,尤其是针对法律英语增强语的语义属性及其词语搭配的研究尚不多见。法律英语中增强语的使用有其不同于通用英语的典型特征。文章旨在运用语料库方法对法律英语增强语的语义属性和词语搭配进行调查,探讨其在法律英语使用中的语言特点,廓清法律英语增强语的基本概念、语义属性以及常见词语搭配序列,以便为法律英语教学和翻译实践提供有益借鉴。

Researches based on Chinese-English parallel legal corpus, especially for the research of semantic properties of amplifiers in legal English and investigation for collocations, are still few. The use of amplifiers in legal English has typical characteristics, different from general English. This paper aims to use corpus methods to investigate and explore the semantic properties of amplifiers in legal English with an aim to clarify the basic concepts of amplifiers, semantic properties, and sequence of words collocation with the help of Chinese-English Parallel Legal Corpus and the examples, which, it believes, provides useful references for legal English teaching and translation.
