The Interpersonal Meanings of English Satellite Adverbs in Science Texts

摘要文章以系统功能语法关于人际意义的论述为出发点,在阐述英语情态卫星副词定义、分类、取向和量值的基础上,比较分析了英语情态卫星副词在11篇典型科技语篇中的分布规律,并揭示了此分布规律在科技语篇中所具有的多重人际意义。 Based on the account of interpersonal meanings in systematic-functional grammar and the description of English modal satellite adverbs in definition, types, orientations and values, this paper compares and analyses the distribution of English modal satellite adverbs in the eleven typical scientific texts. It is found that the multiple interpersonal meanings are realized by such distribution in scientific texts, namely, saving the face of both authors and readers, covering the power-relationship and satisfying heteroglossia between different stances.
