In The Awakening by American female writer Kate Chopin, the comparison of the heroines and the heroes and the successful use of the images embody the thought of the androgyny which deconstructs the dualistic antithesis of "man-woman" and reflects the feminism of the harmonious relationship between men and women. Therefore,it explores the awakening of the self-consciousness of the "new women" at the turn of the 20th century and their appeal of breaking the traditional role of women and pursuing the self-independence and freedom.
