In early 2010, CAS presented to the State Council a plan for Knowledge Innovation Program (KIP) from 2011 to 2020 titled The Knowledge Innovation Program 2020: A Scheme for Leapfrogging in S&T Innovation (Innovation 2020, for short).On March 31, 2010, the State Council approved this plan in principle at its 105th Executive Meeting and decided to further implement KIP so as to address major S&T issues concerning China's long-term development.Innovation 2020 has entrusted a new historic mission and responsibility to CAS, which will surely have a profound impact on China's future S&T development.
