Transmission lines are the basic guarantee and an essential component for the construction of unified strong smart grid. The operation and enviromental condition of transmission lines have always been the concerns of production and operation companies. This paper describes the application and researches of optical fiber composite overhead ground wire （OPGW） to icing information transfer for the transmission lines in 500 kV DC de-icing system project of Shuanglong substation.
