A couple of months ago, I took a look at some recent films dramatizing the lives of famous composers and tried to put them in historical context, from the populist romps of the Golden Age (ending sometime in the early 1960s) to popular films with artistic pretentions (from the mid-1960s to the early 1990s) to today's festival fodder, which should mostly be labeled "for classical music lovers only."
