新技术的发展使油料作物各种品质遗传改良成为可能。目前油菜产业面临的挑战是平衡各种脂肪酸水平,使其构成适应商业需要。在国际市场上,亚麻、向日葵和大豆等油料作物是油菜的竞争者,使得改良油菜品质迫在眉捷。北美产品登记管理要求将脂肪酸的饱和程度降至7%以下,以获得低饱和脂肪酸的油菜商标,这将为扩大油菜的市场份额起重要作用。油菜品质改良的另一方面要求源于营养考虑,它要求一种和多种不饱和脂肪酸达到人类需求的水平。为适应各种不同需求,油菜品质育种应针对不同用途发展不同脂肪酸类型的油菜品种。
The development of the new technologies for genetic modification has opened the possibility of engineering a wide range of new oil qualitites in oilseed crops. The challenge facing the canola industry is the balance of desirable levels of each fatty acid to achieve the profile best suited for the commodity crop. The market influences include the modifications to canola oils competitors in the world market including soybean, sunflower and flax. Product labelling regulations in North Ameri-ca require that the saturate levels are below 7% to obtain the low saturate lable which makes an important contribution to canola oils market share. Nutritional considerations influence the desirable levels of mono-and poly-unsaturated fatty acids. The result-ing set of priorities would support the development of different profiles for distinct end uses.
