A method of ortho oriented halogenation of Benzaldehyde was proposed: reactions of benzaldehyde with aniline gives a Schiff base, which was cyclopalladated to activate ortho carbonhydronen bond; halogenating the cyclopalladated complex affords almost exclusively orthosubstituted products.
