In the first half of 2011, new capacity growth speeded up and vessels breaking were limited, the demand growth was lower than the carrying capacity. The first three big global oil importing countries, the United States, China and Japan, only China’s import is growing. After all, it takes two to tango. Therefore, plenty of excess capacity is creating. Looking into the global oil consumption in the second half, under the common function of the new factors such as slow growth of oil consumption, carrying capacity rapidly increasing, the excess capacity of the global oil tanker transport market is hard to get relief effectively and freight rate will continue to maintain low level. At the same time, global oil tanker capacity continues to maintain the fast growth. In the long term, the United States will expand its domestic oil production for the future, which will create a signif icant impact upon the international oil tanker transport market and will need to be focused on.
